STRETCHING THE CAPABILITIES OF AN OVERLOOKED FAST FASHION PRODUCT

WHAT TO DO WITH OLD RIPPED AND LADDERED NYLON TIGHTS?

This project explores the afterlife of used and broken tights. Tights are a disposable product. As soon as there is one hole or ladder, it is time to go in the bin. This is not a positive impact on the environment, adding to the extensive mass of non-compostable materials going to landfill. So all the tights you see are old used tights given a new application. This experiment explores the inherent strength of this overlooked material and also gives it a second, third or fourth life.
